The Star-Spun Web by Sinead O’Hart

Tess de Sousa has always been different from the other orphans. When a strange man claims to be her relative, she sets off on a new life with him. Taking nothing but her pet tarantula and a strange device that she was left when she was a baby. Trying to find answers about her mysterious past, Tess discovers her guardians interest in her is part of a terrible plan.

I loved this book so much. It’s super fun to read, I really liked that the further you read into the story, the more character perspectives you see. I loved slowly putting together part of the puzzle after seeing what each character was seeing.

This book really delves into different dimensions and I love it. It combines historical fiction, science and alternate realities in such a nice way. I think it works so well because it’s not set in our dimension.

I love most of the characters in this book, some are too horrible for me too like. My favorite is probably Wilf because of her strong love of science and her loyalty to Tess and the rest of her friends. I love that she’s super clumsy but will not let that stop her from trying her best.

This book is an amazing middle grade book. All of Sinead O’Hart’s books I’ve read so far are.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys science, alternate realities, adventure, history and tarantulas.
