The Hummingbird Killer by Finn Longman

Isabel Ryans is the Moth, a notorious killer known throughout the city of Espera. She is very good at her job, but Isabel wants to be normal. So she moves in with a civilian flatmate and tries to live a normal life. This works for awhile until her day job makes it impossible to keep her two lives separate. Isabel is forced to decide where her loyalties lie, and soon finds herself surrounded by enemies.

The Hummingbird Killer is the sequel to the book The Butterfly Assassin. I loved The Butterfly Assassin and it was one of the best books I read last year, but I think this book might be even better.

The Hummingbird Killer is a thrilling book filled with lots of twists. A few of these twists made me gasp out loud, and a one point I had to put down the book and reflect on what just happened.  This book has lots of death and murder, but it also has friendships and connections that will break you apart, in a good way.

I loved The Hummingbird Killer  so much. This book made me feel so many feelings: happy, sad, angry, annoyed. I loved almost every character in this book; there where only two characters I didn’t like in any way. My favorites were definitely Mortimer and Rory. Mortimer because he makes me laugh. He also is a really nice guy and should probably not be friends with Isabel. I love Rory because she is a cat who is mentioned even less in this book than in the first one, but she is mentioned and that is the only reason I have for liking her.

I would recommend this book to anyone who liked The Butterfly Assassin and enjoys dystopian books.

I have been really looking forward to The Hummingbird Killer for a while and it has lived up to my expectations. This series is one of the best I have ever read and I cannot wait for the next book.
