Murder On A School Night by Kate Weston

Murder On A School Night is a funny and exciting murder mystery. This book is impossible to put down and it has some very unexpected twists. This book made me laugh out loud, which was amazing; unfortunately, this ended in me getting some strange looks when I was reading it in public.

Kerry is a girl who would love nothing more than to stay at home watching rom-coms and staying on her strict retainer schedule. However, her best friend Annie has roped her into going to their first ever sixth-form party. Heather, the most popular girl in their school, is being cyberbullied and they are going to find out who is doing it.

Just as Kerry is about to kiss her crush, she discovers the dead body of Heather’s second in command – suffocated by a menstrual cup. By the end of the week, there is another murder. This time the victim has a sanitary pad over their eyes. Kerry and Annie have officially started to investigate the case of the menstrual murderer, even if no one else believes these deaths were murders.

I loved Murder On A School Night, I love the humor, the characters, and the suspense of the book. This book kept me awake until the early hours of the morning multiple times and it was definitely worth the few lost hours of sleep.

I loved all of the characters, but my favorites were definitely Annie, Colin and Herbie. I loved Annie because of her fierce personality, her funny comments, her dictaphone and murder board, and her Paw Patrol bike. I loved Colin because I find him really funny and I love his relationship with his sister. Last but not least, I loved Herbie because who wouldn’t love a funny dog who can easily fit into a backpack.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a hilarious, suspenseful and fast paced mystery book to read this summer.
