The Silver Road by Sinéad O’Hart

Rosaleen Darke was an ordinary girl until she was given a powerful stone by an ice giant and told to protect it. This stone leads her to a magical world hiding under her feet – the Silver Road. The Silver Road is in danger, and the stone Rose has is the only way to save it. But the stone could destroy the Silver Road’s magic forever, bringing the real world to flames with it. Rose must stop the terrifying creatures, gods and witches. With only not- a-cat and a few drops of courage, she has to keep the magic alive.

I love The Silver Road so much. It’s super fast paced, I finished in two days and without homework, I would have finished it in one. This book is full of awesome characters and amazing creatures. My favorite character is definitely Catshee because who doesn’t love a sneaky little not-cat with secrets.

The Silver Road is fantastic and is impossible to put down. I was reading it any second I had free, especially during the incredible battle at the end of the book.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy and anyone who doesn’t. It has a great combination of friendship, grief, mythology and adventure. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to ignore all of their tasks for a couple of days and read a magical middle grade book.
