Friends Don’t Tell by Nadz & Grace

I was really excited to read Friends Don’t Tell, and I was blown away. Friends Don’t Tell was better that I thought it would be.  Every chapter alternates between the past and present and that structure made the book so amazing to read.

I learned a lot from Friends Don’t Tell, mostly because I had to research a few words and medical terms that are used in the book.  Each character was so different and I wanted to know more about all them. I found it really interesting to read about their different coping methods and how they each dealt with problems.

My favorite characters are probably Sam and Jade. I like Jade because of how hard she tries to not hurt anyone and how kind and caring she is. I also love her style and outfits. Her view on the world is really interesting to read. I like Sam because he has a lot of secrets (like all of them) and I love how patient he is. He spends so much time waiting; it is really impressive.

Friends Don’t Tell may be one of the best Young Adult books I have read so far this year. I love how the surroundings are described, it feels almost like I am looking at a picture.

Friends Don’t Tell is a dual perspective set in both the past and present. In the present, it has been almost a year since Jade’s tragic death at Get Lost Festival. As Lexi’s OCD is worsening with each day, she starts to get the feeling one of their friends isn’t telling the full truth about that night.  Lexi needs to find the truth, the guilt of not remembering what happened is destroying her. Figuring out the full story is almost impossible because Jade was keeping secrets too.

I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fast paced, young adult book featuring mental health. I think it is one of the books that anyone and everyone would like.
