Mina And The Undead by Amy McCaw

Mina And The Undead is a fun vampire mystery filled with tension, action, 90s pop culture references  and romance.

Mina And The Undead follows Mina, who’s visiting her sister, Libby, in New Orleans. Libby works at a horror movie mansion and Mina soon scores a part-time job there. From the new job and Libby’s gorgeous housemate, Mina’s summer seems perfect until she stumbles upon a girls body with puncture marks in her neck and clutching what looks like Libby’s hair. Mina needs to find who is replicating some of New Orleans most brutal supernatural killings and prove her sister’s innocence before its too late.

When I saw Mina And The Undead in the library, I immediately had to pick it up. Mina And The Undead has been on my TBR pile for a while now and its safe to say, it didn’t disappoint me.

I really enjoyed Mina And The Undead. It’s super fast paced and has a bunch of  unexpected twists. I went from sympathizing with characters to hating them in a matter of pages and vice versa as the story unfolded.

I loved seeing Mina navigate her relationships with her sister, Jared and the other characters in the book. I really enjoyed  getting to learn more about the killings and the different ways they could be connected to Mina and Libby. The mystery was really gripping and I loved getting to see some of the past in the diary Mina was reading.

Mina And The Undead is great for lovers of any vampire media or horror enthusiast. It reminds me of (from the few episodes I’ve watched) Buffy The Vampire Slayer, The Lost Boys and some of my favorite vampire books like Big Bad Me.
