Iris Green, Unseen is a book about Iris finding herself and her confidence when she has lost everyone close to her. Iris Green is a quiet, unremarkable, ‘grey’ person, but she’s dating the most popular boy in her school. When she discovers her boyfriend kissing her best friend, she feels alone and invisible, only to discover she really is invisible. The more she disappears, the more she understands the people around her. She also starts to learn more about Baker, the boy in the darkroom and the only person she stops being invisible around. He might be able to help Iris find herself.
Iris Green, Unseen is a great book, the journey Iris goes on throughout the book is really interesting to read about and touches on a lot of issues that people especially teenagers face everyday. Iris’s issues with self esteem, friendships, breakups and letting go of the past can resonate and be related to by many readers.
I really enjoy Louise Finch’s books – Iris Green, Unseen and The Eternal Return Of Clara Hart – because they talk about these topics that aren’t found in as many YA books as they should. Both of these books feel very serious but are still really immersive books that are interesting and entertaining to read.
Iris Green, Unseen has really great relationships that change throughout the book. Seeing these develop with Iris and how she overcomes them is really cool. One of my favorite relationships is between Iris and her friend, Bert. I loved seeing how they developed and grew as people.
