Dead Happy is the sequel to Happy Head. It continues Seb’s story on Elmhallow, where, under the guidance of the perfect couple, will help Seb and the rest of the Ten will grow their love and conquer their fears. Seb is still paired with Eleanor to complete the strange trials this island offers, but he can’t stop thinking about Finn. Determined to find him, Seb’s search uncovers an even darker reality and gives him a chance to expose the the truth behind HappyHead.
I loved this book. It is such a great sequel. I loved getting to go back to the Happy Head world and Seb’s story. Dead happy is thrilling and twisted. Everything that’s happening in the book seems so unreal, its still something that could a hundred percent happen in our society and people would get away with which is horrible.
It only took me a couple days to finish Dead Happy despite it being over 400 pages long. It is such a gripping book, full of action, tension and unexpected twists.
It was really cool to see different sides of the characters – like Eleanor and her real thoughts on the HappyHead program that we hadn’t seen before. I also loved seeing Finn and Seb’s relationship with each other and the rest of the bottom percentile. I especially liked seeing this at the end during ‘the present moment’ and seeing how they’ve changed since the end of the book.
Dead Happy is an essential read for anybody who enjoyed Happy Head.
